Understanding People’s Needs: Guiding Principles for Multidisciplinary Needs Assessments
This document aims to facilitate a shared understanding of multidisciplinary needs assessments (MDNAs) by setting out a clear rationale and objectives for them. It also provides a framework for developing an approach tailored to each ICRC delegation’s operational situation and capacity. Since the primary purpose of an MDNA is to guide operational decision-making and resource allocation, this document focuses on building a process that ensures systematic use of evidence and insights. These help us design programmes that will address the needs and priorities of people affected by conflict and other violence effectively.
