The Rarotonga Treaty and the TPNW
The South Pacific Nuclear Free Zone Treaty (Rarotonga Treaty) and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) share a common objective: achieving a world free of nuclear weapons in the interests of global peace and security. This factsheet explains how the treaties work together, how the TPNW builds on and globalizes the provisions of the Rarotonga Treaty, and how states parties to the Rarotonga Treaty can support total nuclear disarmament by joining the TPNW.
