The Kampala Convention: Key Recommendations Ten Years On
The plight of millions of people internally displaced in Africa because of armed conflict or other violence continues to give cause for concern. The tenth anniversary of the Kampala Convention in 2019 was an opportunity to translate more of its provisions into concrete improvements for internally displaced people. This report provides an update on the ICRC’s 2016 Translating the Kampala Convention into Practice: A Stocktaking Exercise. It follows up on its recommendations for strengthening the implementation and operationalization of the Kampala Convention, adds to the evidence supporting those recommendations by presenting the progress made, and focuses on what is most needed in the future.
