The Bangkok Treaty and the TPNW

The Treaty on the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone (SEANWFZ or Bangkok Treaty) and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) share a common objective: achieving a world free of nuclear weapons in the interests of global peace and security. This factsheet explains how the treaties work together, how the TPNW builds on and globalizes the provisions of the Bangkok Treaty, and how states parties to the Bangkok Treaty can support total nuclear disarmament by joining the TPNW.
