Promoting peer-to-peer exchanges on data collection systems to analyse violence against health care
This report lays out the extensive discussions and conclusions of a workshop co-organized in Madrid, Spain, in November 2019 by the ICRC, the Spanish Red Cross, the Organización Médica Colegial and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. It contains key elements to consider when developing national data collection mechanisms to document phenomenon of violence against healthcare, based on several high-level case studies from around the world. Better data-collection mechanisms are required worldwide to fully understand the magnitude of the problem, its causes and the breadth of its impact. Only then can informed decisions be made as to how to prevent and address incidents of violence or attacks against health care.
