Economic Security

ref. 0954
Economic Security Programs protect and assist conflict affected households and communities while also strengthening their resilience and capacity to cope, without depleting their assets or resorting to unsustainable strategies that would expose them to further risks. This leaflet provides a comprehensive overview of EcoSec activities and how the EcoSec Unit plays a vital role in supporting the overall ICRC multidisciplinary approach to reducing vulnerability and threats and increasing affected people’s capacities. EcoSec in Brief provides a summary of the EcoSec Unit’s programmes, approaches, and priorities, including the integration of cross-cutting topics such as IHL and Food Security, Climate & Environment, and Inclusive Programming. The EcoSec Unit continues developing innovative approaches to support people’s efforts to protect, strengthen and adapt their livelihoods in both urban and rural settings. EcoSec also contributes to ICRC’s protection mandate, analyzing the causes and consequences of conflict to contribute to our dialogue to help parties understand and fulfil their responsibilities and obligations under international humanitarian law.
