This guide provides theoretical and practical guidance on the community-based protection (CBP) approach. It gives an introduction to the main CBP-related concepts and definitions, what makes CBP different from other processes and approaches, and the role the community plays throughout the cycle. It also provides an overview of the various phases, steps and tools involved in implementing CBP, and some reminders and practical examples. This guide builds on several years of training in the field and is informed by consultations with affected communities. The overall aim of this document is to present and guide National Societies through the implementation of CBP.
