Code of Conduct Policy: Preventing and Responding to Sexual Exploitation, Sexual Abuse and Sexual Harassment

ref. 4776

The ICRC is committed to an institutional culture of trust and integrity that prevents and addresses all forms of sexual exploitation, sexual abuse and sexual harassment (SEAH).

In line with this commitment, this policy aims at the concrete implementation of the ICRC Code of Conduct for employees regarding SEAH. The policy provides:

  • further clarification on the behavioural standards expected from ICRC employees and definitions of the different forms of SEAH prohibited by the ICRC Code of Conduct
  • guidance to ensure all prevention and response measures concerning SEAH are guided by a victim/survivor-centred approach
  • a summary of roles and responsibilities for employees and managers in this area.

This document should be read in conjunction with the other ICRC policies and guidelines listed in Annex 3 (“Supporting documents”) of this policy, in particular the second edition of the Code of Conduct Compliance: Operational Guidelines (CoC Operational Guidelines).
